Lost: "Through The Looking Glass" Season 3 Finale

Wow! How about that? What looked like a flashback was actually a flash forward - a glimpse into the future... a very bleak future for Jack who essentially turns into his alcoholic father after he leaves the island. Evangeline Lilly was on earlier this week with Regis and Kelly and she said there would be a "BIG REVEAL" that would set us up and lead us into the next three seasons. Bravo! That was one hell of a reveal. One thing is not adding up though.

When Jack (and his Tommy Chong beard) is tearing into Dr. Rob Hamill - played by James Lesure from the TV show Las Vegas - he says, "get my father down here and if I'm drunker than he is, then you can fire me." Jack's dad is dead. Perhaps it was just the ramblings of someone who is addicted to oxycodone. It could have also been a scripted line to keep the viewer thinking we were in the past (great job Damon and Carlton). ADD: He also tries to get a prescription filled using his father's prescription pad.

So we have the big reveal and the set up for the next few seasons: getting back to the island 101, but we are left (as always) with a ton of questions:

1. If Naomi is not working for Penny, then who? Maybe she is working for Hanso, and they have been trying to find the island since Ben killed all of the Dharma peeps and they want to exterminate the hostiles in a purge of their own.

2. Was it really Walt or was it Jacob in the form of Walt (Wonder Twin powers activate).

3. Who died? In Jack's flash forward, he is torn up by an obit that he reads in the paper. I couldn't get a good look at the paper, but whoever it was, it was enough to push Jack to suicide. The only thing that kept him from stepping off the ledge was the car accident in which he was able to save a mother an child - and once again feel good about fixing things, if only between pills (he caused the accident). Whoever it was that died didn't have any friends or family because no one showed up to the viewing. ADD: I'm thinking it was Ben because he would have been the only one with enough knowledge to get Jack back to the island that he so desparately wanted to return to. Also (thanks Tail Section!) the funeral parlor name is an easter egg. "Hoffs/Drawler" is an anagram for "Flash Forward." Had I caught that early, I would have realized it was a flashforward long before Kate meets Jack at the airport.

4. Who does Kate marry? Is it Sawyer, and does he become a bigger a-hole than he was in this episode?

5. Do you think Jack will keep his promise of killing Ben right before they take off in the rescue chopper? And will we even see a rescue? Or will season four jump right into the future with our protagonist, Gilligan, trying to get back to the island?

6. Was Jack's ex-wife, Sarah pregnant? I couldn't really tell, but it looked like she might be. Not that it has anything to do with the show, I was just wondering.

7. C'mon Locke! Why the theatrics? Just tell Jack why he's not supposed to leave the island.

8. Did Charlie really have to die? If he had of just come out of the jamming room and closed the air latch, would it have changed the outcome of things? Poor Charlie: RIP. Nice touch on the code for the Looking Glass jamming equipment: "Good Vibrations" by the Beach Boys played on the keypad. It was very Willy Wonka meats the organ of bones scene from The Goonies.

9. Danielle, Alex, Alex, Danielle... not really a question, I just felt like saying it. Rousseau says she's staying on the island. She knows what's up.

I'm in it for the long haul as I want to see it through to the end. I have heard that next season doesn't start until January of 2008. That is a long time to wait, but it will give me more time to get settled and get back to my blog. I am going to go back through the entire season on the DVR and add stuff to the blog periodically while the show is on hiatus, so check back often.

ADD: I was browsing the ABC/LOST forums and read a great theory about the Sharpie and Charlie's note on his hand. Desmond did not see this in his flashes and he therefore has a chance to get back to the beach and alter the shitty future that is in store for Jack. I am hoping that the flash forward we saw was just one of many possibilities. Even though Jack has a tendency to be an arrogant ass, he doesn't deserve that fate.

Lost: Greatest Hits - Airdate: May 16, 2007

Key Points: (In no particular order)

1. Liam's Ring:

Until now it was thought to mean Driveshaft, but Liam says a name, Dexter Stratton. The ring is a family heirloom which has been passed down many generations. Here's a link to what could be a possible explanation of DS. Liam gives Charlie the ring because he is still a "clean" rock star at this time and is more likely than Liam to survive the rock and roll lifestyle and go on to have a family. Charlie doesn't want to take it because Liam was first born. He also knows that his trip to The Looking Glass will be one way, so he leaves the ring in Aaron's crib because he loves Claire and considers them his family.

2. The Looking Glass:

There was a buzz about this underwater hatch last season. I'm surprised it took this long to get to it. We also finally learn what the cable is all about and, whatever is jamming the radio frequencies is located inside this hatch. That is why Rousseau's 16 year broadcast for help has never been heard.

3. The Ladies of The Hatch:

Lostpedia is listing thier names as Bonnie and Greta. At this point we don't know where their alliegence lies and we are only to assume that they are Others. Maybe they are survivors of the purge... that might make for a deeper story line that they now need to stretch to 2010. But wait, Ben did know that the signals were being jammed from the Looking Glass, but yet he tells everyone that it was flooded after some sort of accident to keep the Others from going down there. Maybe Bonnie and Greta work directly with Ben without anyone else knowing it... hmmm? We shall see. Ben does seem to be working on an agenda that the other others (or hostiles disapprove of. Something also tells me that Desmond will swim through the underwater entrance and save Charlie yet again. That may not happen until the beginning of Season 4.

4. The girl in the alley at Covent Gardens:

She lookes a lot like Nadia...oh...wait... what's that you say? It is Nadia, Sayid's girl. She says Chalie is the 4th person to walk by her as she is being mugged, and the only person to help. She calls him her hero, which leaves a life-long impression on him.

5. Jack's Plan:

Boom! With no time to finish wiring the tents that are marked with the White Rocks, but loaded with dynomite from the Black Rock, they decide to shoot the explosives as the Others enter the tents. The Shooters:

Bernard - a Pheasant hunter in Montgomery County with great marksman skills.
Sayid - has experience with guns from his stint in the Republican Guard.
Jin - Don't really know what experience he has. I may have forgotten some details.

Lost: "The Man Behind The Curtain" Airdate: May 9, 2007

I am officially out of time. There are no more hours left in my day. I did manage to find a few minutes to log on. Last night's episode was incredible. My wife was saying she wished all of the episodes could be that fast paced. I'm going to keep things short, probably just an outline of questions and comments.

1. Do you really think Locke is dead? At this point it is implied that he's a gonner, but Ben did say, "I certainly hope he [Jacob] helps you, John."

2. That leads me to another question: who? what?...uh... what the hell was "Jacob?" Is there a "real" spiritual entity there? Or, as Locke implies, is it all a creation of Ben to keep the Others in fear of him. It seems to me that he would have had a lot of time to perfect the charade. I can see him going outside the Dharma fence many times during his child hood. Also, could Jacob be the "smoke monster?" Update: if you pause this scene when Ben gets thrown against the wall and the camera pans back over, you can see a man sitting in the chair... I know it's totally sad that I am describing this... So, is Jacob a product of some sort of experiment gone bad? Is he stuck between deminsions? He did want Locke to "help" him. Help him what? Escape his prison?

3. Ben is not really "born on the island" as he has stated before (unless that is some sort of metaphore). He is born pre-mature to Roger and Emily Linus while they are on a hike 32 miles outside of Portland.

4. Roger Linus, or as Hurley refers to him: Roger Workman...dude, is the dead man that he found in the VW bus a while back. George is an ass. He gets the Alec Baldwin award for the week. He blames Ben for killing his wife at child birth and we only saw a little of what was most likely a life time of verbal abuse and neglect. Apparently it was enough to drive Ben crazy... crazy enough to pull a Jonestown with the Hostiles.

5. The Hostiles: the original inhabitants of the island. Not much is know about exactly where they came from, but it is obvious that they don't like the fact that the Dharma Initiative is there on "their" island. In fact the Hostiles are just that...hostile. When little Ben meets the "I-Haven't-Aged-At-All" Richard outside the sonic fence, he asks Ben if he even know what hostile means. There was also something said about the fact that Dharma came to the island seeking harmony and they could not co-exist with the islands original inhabitants.

6. Speaking of Richard Alpert: We now know he was one of the original inhabitants of the island. The BIG question: why hasn't he aged? About 30 years have passed and he has not aged a day. Only his hair has changed. We can also safely assume that he and Ben had Ben secretly working on the plan for The Purge for many years.

7. Annie: she is the little girl who befriends Ben when he first comes to the island. They seem to share a special bond. She also remembers Ben's birthday and gives him a box which contains two dolls fashioned after themselves. She takes the "Ben" doll and he takes the "Annie" doll. She says now "they never have to be apart." There has got to be more to this story. I am wondering if something happens to her. There was no camera closeup of a grown-up Annie dead at the Purge. I am wondering if she is taken away, or dies early on, and this is just one more thing to push Ben over the edge.

Lost: The Brig - Airdate: May 2, 2007

Before I jump in, I have a few questions that are on the top of my mind: (1) Why did Locke burn Sawyer's file? Obviously Locke learns about Sawyers past, but (2) what else did his file say? (or do you think it's a dead issue now?) (3) What should Jack and Juliet tell Kate?

You know the show is back on track when you are more confused at the end of the episode than you were at the beginning. I need to watch it again, but here's what I have as of right now:

Deciphering The Brig is requiring a lot of reasearch and back tracking. Sawyer's letter to the real "Tom Sawyer" takes us back to season one to Confidence Man and Outlaws. It was in Outlaws when we learn that Sawyer was dooped into killing the man in Sydney. I really need to go back and watch season one again... but where will I find the time?

It was finally confirmed in this episode that Locke's dad is the same man that ran the con on Sawyer's family and set things in motion for James to have horrible life. I remember there was some speculation on my blog last season that he would infact turn out to be the same guy. If you want to look back, it was during last March around the Lockdown episode. I'm still trying to figure out just why Locke could not kill him. After everything that (we'll call him Anthony Cooper since that was his best known alias according to Lostpedia.org) Anthony put him through you would think that he would have no problem slicing his throat. That's just the person that Locke is I guess. He seems to have always been a spiritual man who would have a problem with violating any of the Ten Commandments. I wonder if he read something in Sawyer's file (the one Richard Alpert gave him on the hill) that solidified his position on why he should not kill...

Lost: "D.O.C" Airdate: April 25, 2007

I'm tired tonight and was going to wait until tomorrow to post, but what the "tree girl" said at the very end of the episode is keeping me awake. "Flight 815? That's impossible. They found the plane. They were all dead. There were no survivors..." What the !@#$? What does this mean? Are we talking some sort of alternate reality now, or multiple planes of existence? I hate to even bring this up because the writers have vehemently denied it over and over since season one, but could it really be purgatory? Perhaps the report of the plane being found and that there were no survivors was falsified by the Others so that no one would come looking and accidentally discover the island. Let's go with that. At the time of the crash of Flight 815, Mikhail had contact with the "outside world" (Locke wasn't there yet to blow up The Flame) and was monitoring the crash story as well as gathering info on all passengers aboard the flight. He could have leaked a story that 815 had been found. That would be the most logical explanation, but this this show often strays from the logical. We still don't know what the freakin' smoke monster is yet. So what did we gain from this episode? Another long list of unanswered questions.

Such as, why is Mikhail alive? Did he fake his death at the perimeter gate? Or are we getting back into the "good twin, bad twin" theories? He does say "I have already died once this week," but this Mikhail seemed much nicer than the guy at The Flame... although he did try to steal the satellite phone. And if Mikhail did die and was brought back to life, does this mean that Miss Klugh is also alive? I assume not because if they could bring people back to life, why not Pickett or any of the pregnant women? Or maybe it is the island that gets to pick and choose who comes back to life and who dies. Pickett was killed on the other island anyway... jeez I'm starting ramble. Before we get to any other unanswered questions, let me go over what I did learn.

Time stamp: Juliet says they have been on the island for 90 days while giving Sun an ultrasound. There are three more episodes until the season finale, right? Do you think they will cover 18 days over the next few weeks? I thought it would cool if the cataclysmic season final just so happened fall on day 108. I'm not sure that will happen now unless through the magic of TV they are able to skip ahead a few days and re-time stamp before the season finale. The name of tonight's episode was D.O.C. or "Date of Conception." Let me do some Lost math: 90 days - D.O.C.(53 days ago according to Juliet)= Day 37. The Lostpedia time line lists this as October 28, 2004 Island Pacific Time, and we now know that the baby is Jin's. This kills my theory that it was Mr. Lee. We can put that one to bed.

What else did we learn? Jin is ashamed of where he came from. His mom was a prostitute and his father a fisherman. His father said he wasn't sure he was even his son. "I gave birth to him, that doesn't make me his mother." What a !@#$% I hope the extortionist dies a horrible death. It is because of the $100,000 that Sun borrows (er, somewhat extorts) from her own dad that Jin has to do Mr. Paik's dirty work.

The medical hatch has a little secret of it's own. I wonder if all the hatches were set up that way. Hidden lever inside the locker opens a door to a room that is hidden behind the row of lockers. This was were they brought the pregnant women to die. Juliet has lost 9 patients in the 3 years she has been there. Most of the women made it to the second trimester, none made it to the third. It was also confirmed that she is still working for the Others (we knew that, but I wasn't sure to what extent), but on what appears to be a fact finding mission. She is "still getting samples." I need to watch it again to see exactly what she said, but she did mention Kate while talking into the recorder. Did they impregnate Kate while in captivity? Or just assume that she may have gotten pregnant by Sawyer that sweaty, dirty night in the cage?

Sun has two months to live. Looking at the time line, that would put her possible death at February 18, 2005 island time. Someone posted on my blog last week that they heard that Lost will not start Season Four until January of next year so they can run all episodes consecutively. I have not heard this, or read it, of course I have been absent. If this is the case, then Sun's death would fall in the middle of February sweeps. I can hear the promos in my head now: "Will Sun Live or Die..."

The "tree girl" or parachutist... it seems like it would be hard to parachute from a helicopter, but from what I have read, it is possible...speaks several different languages while the camping party attempts to save her: Spanish, Italian, Korean, and English. No one brought up Portuguese, but the book she was carrying which we saw last episode was Portuguese for "Catch 22." At the end of season two, the men in the monitoring station were also speaking Portuguese right before they called Penny(see "Live Together, Die Alone."

Alright, now to the unanswered question that we will ponder all week when we come back next week for more unanswered questions. Who is the parachutist? Why is she there? We know the island is all powerful, but how does it heal someone so fast, raise sperm counts, etc. Is it one of those magnetic hot spots that has been addressed in past episodes? I'm sure there are more questions, but I am falling asleep.

Before I go, I wanted to give a big bravo to Sun for actually grilling Juliet. No one has asked her any questions, but Sun did. "What happens to pregnant women on this island?" "Why are you doing this...helping me?" "Why is this room hidden?" Sure Juliet gave some vague answers, but I hope that more characters step up and start asking questions.

I've got to get to bed. The whole "there were no survivors on Flight 815" thing is still running around in my head. I'll log on later. I still want to get to a theory one of my co-workers proposed last week. If the parachutists had of said something along the lines of: "Flight 815, that's impossible. That crash happened more than 50 years ago..." then he would have nailed it. Still pondering his theory and may share it later.

Lost: "Catch 22" Airdate - April 18, 2007

I have come to the realization that I may never get caught up so I decided to just jump right back in with this episode and try to catch up at a later date. I know that a lot of people have given up on me and my blog...what can I say but life got in the way. Everything is starting to settle down a bit so I should be able to dig into the final four episodes and the cataclysmic season finale without any more delays. With that said let's jump into "Catch 22."

It was another Desmond flashback episode, but I have to say that Sawyer stole the show. He had some great lines: "How about some Afternoon Delight?" "Do you need me to make you a mixtape?" "Are you two arguing over who's your favorite Other?" "If we don't play every 108 minutes..." The mixtape line had me laughing so hard, I missed the next few lines and had to pick back up with Hurley convincing Jin that he and Desmond were going camping.

"Catch 22" went way back into Desmond's life. From what we learned, he has always run away from what mattered. He considers himself a coward. At one time he was engaged to Ruth, but ran away a week before the wedding to join a monastery. I didn't catch the name of the head monk, but the name of the wine was Moriah Vineyard. In the Bible, God asks Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac on Mount Moriah. It was only a test of God.

We saw the pic of Desmond and Penny several times in the episode...did anyone catch the other picture on the desk of the head monk. It was a picture with the monk and the weird lady in the jewelry store/ring shop from the last Desmond flashback episode (it was a bad photoshopped picture); someone he hasn't met yet, but now has ties back to the monastery. And rightfully so because it is there where he meets Penny, the "next" in "whatever comes next." What the monk tells Desmond is pretty important: "You just spent too much time running away that you didn't realize what you may be running towards."

Meanwhile, back on the island, Desmond's visions lead a small group on a short expedition... er well, before the expedition can begin, Desmond has to set things in motion. He is so sure that Penny is coming to the island that he is willing to let Charlie die to get to her. Of course he saves Charlie again even though he knows that it will keep happening again and again until death finally catches up to Charlie. There has been some talk as of late that Desmond may be the next to die. If that happens, Charlie won't be far behind... and I suspect that if Desmond goes, Charlie will stick close to Claire thus bringing about her death as well. This of course is just speculation on my part... just little 'ol me rambling again.

I got a call just as the episode ended asking who I thought the girl who parachuted from the helicopter is? It certainly looked like Sayid's girl Nadia, but I don't think it's her. We'll have to wait and see. In her pack was a satellite phone, a book titled "Ardil-22," which is Portugese for "Catch 22" btw.

Kate is jealous of Jack and Juliet, so she "jumps" Sawyer. Here's a question: what happens when The Others arrive in a week and Jack realizes that Juliet has betrayed his trust, provided he survives the cataclysmic season finale? Will he go running back to Kate? Will the love triangle continue?

4. "The Best of Phil Collins" (not really... but it was funny how they attributed the tape to Bernard who we haven't seen in a while. A clever way to keep his character in the loop.)

"I once was LOST, but now am found..."

***Wow! I thought for sure I would get caught up during vacation. How fast time flies when life gets in the way. I have received a lot of e-mails from people all over the place. Thank you for your concern... and I am not dead. Below is what I wrote during vacation. I still have a lot of catching up to do. I will make another post weighing in on Wednesday night's "One of Us" and backtrack from there. Thank you for your patience.***

I finally found some time during my vacation to catch up on LOST. Since I will be revisiting the last several episodes, I will most likely just hit on key points and easter eggs. And here we go...

Lost: "Stranger In A Strange Land" Airdate: February 21, 2007

1. The Kate and Sawyer relationship continues its downward spiral as Karl's brain seems to heal...er...well, somewhat: "God loves you as he loved Jacob." We still don't know who this Jacob feller is yet, do we? I have a hunch, based on his name being mentioned in past episodes, that Jacob is "da man." Remember the line "not on Jacob's list?" Also, with the continual flow of science and religion in this series, look up the biblical story of Jacob and Esau. You can start on the Lost Wiki, but beware of spoilers.

2. New Character: Isabel, aka The Sheriff. LOST FUN FACT: Isabel is played by Diana Scarwid. Diana is from my hometown of Savannah. There is a running joke in my family that my mom was stalking her in the Wilmington Island Publix one day while on break from stalking Sandra Bulloch in CVS. *Kidding Mom* FYI: Sandra Bulloch has a house on Tybee. Isabel appears to be very educated and multi-lingual as she demonstrates by translating Jack's tat. She is also another very mysterious character.

3. Flashbacks: We learn a bit more about Jack and his tatoo as we go back to Phuket, Thailand. While there we meet Achara, Jack's "sexy girlfriend." Achara has a gift. I'm pretty sure Jack thinks this "gift" is the gift of prostitution. That's why he gets paranoid and has to follow her.

4. Achara's Gift: "My work is not decoration, it's definition." Achara can "see" who people are. However, she is only allowed to read her own kind. This is why Jack gets beat down when he forces her to read him. So what does she see in Jack? He is "a leader, a great man... but this makes you lonely, and frightened, and angry..." So why does Achara not "put that on him."

5. Jack's Tat: as defined by Isabel means "He walks amongst us, but he is not one of us." Jack responds by saying, "that's what it says, but that's not what it means." It fits perfectly into his current situation as he is now among the Others, but yet, he is not one of them. Whoever they are?

6. The Zoo? The scene that had the well dressed others watching Jack in the bear cage seemed just a little too weird and a little hokey. Cindy is back though. LOST Refresher Course 101: Cindy was a Tailie who was with Ana's expedition to the otherside of the island. She was quickly and quietly taken though after hearing the whispers of the island. See "The Other 48 Days" from Season 2. She told Jack that they were there to watch. Watch what/who? I assume they were there for Juliet's tribal council (more on that in a minute), but the way she said it as she looked at Jack seemed that they were there to observe him. Emma has Cindy ask Jack how Ana Lucia is doing? A few moments later we catch a glimpse of the infamous teddy bear.

7. The Teddy Bear. I'm not really sure of its meaning just yet, but it has been seen and mentioned in several episodes. Karl even tells Kate and Sawyer that he and Alex would name the constellations, he even points to one and says that it's the "Ursa Theodorus - The Teddy Bear." More to come I'm sure.

8. Juliet was on trial for the murder of Danny Pickett. Jack obviously has feelings for Juliet. He lies and covers for her and ultimately re-bargains with Ben to save her life. When Ben's message was delievered, Juliet's sentence was commuted; her execution was off the table; the "Rules" don't apply. We already know that they are an eye for an eye people, but I would really like to see a list of these "Rules" just to understand them better. Juliet was also marked with a symbol that looks like an upside down cross with two other intersecting lines that cross the center. It almost looks very scorpion-like. My scorpion senses tell me that we will later learn the meaning of the symbol.

I think that is just about it from "Stranger..." Let's move on to the next episode. I'm just going to cut and paste.

Lost: "Tricia Tanaka Is Dead" Airdate: February 28, 2007

Hurley's dad is a deadbeat a-hole. When he left,I was thinking it could have been around the time that Cheech hooked up with Chong and went "Up In Smoke." Let's do some time-line math: Now = 2004 (It may be close to 2005 on the island now. I need a time reference). His dad left 17 years ago. That would put his exit in the year of 1987, right? So a Cheech and Chong paralell can not be drawn... not that it would fit anywhere andI don't know why I'm typing this. I think I am losing it. I shaved my head and got a tatoo last night before the show. Some sort of Chinese symbol that means "the cheese smells like my shoe." Alright, so I didn't get a tat, but I did shave my head... and I get to keep MY kids. Sorry, where was I? Even though Hugo's father was a deadbeat, he did deliver an important message (as I contradict myself): "Having hope is never stupid. In this world, you've got to make your own luck." So maybe he wasn't that bad after all. He even told Hugo to give away all of the money.

Even though it was a set-up, the Psychic/Tarrot was very spooky. Pulling the death card and knowing the "cursed" numbers: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 for those who need a refresher. Hurley's mom used the lottery winnings to lure his dad back, and I'm sure she didn't have to twist to hard. She must have told him in conversation that Hugo thought the numbers were cursed and gave him enough info to give to the psychic/tarrot reader.

Looking back, I'm pretty sure that we knew that Hurley bought Mr. Cluck's with some of his lotter winnings. He also buys the box company where Locke works/worked. I think we also knew something happened to Mr. Cluck's. I think it may have been referenced last season, but this is the first time that we saw the meteor...er...ateroid...er...meteor hit Mr. Cluck's and kill Tricia. I wonder what the meteor/asteroid line was all about? Sorry, another Cheech and Chong reference that has nothing to do with what I'm talking about... unless Hurley decides to light one up on the road to "Shambala." Does this mean that Hurley's "curse" is lifted and he is beginning a spiritual journey on a new path? Will this "new path" or "dirt road" that Dharma was building take him "home?" Also, because Charlie faced death head on, does this change anything? Desmond says, "It doesn't work that way." Talk amongst yourselves. ***Possible Spoiler (highlight the next few lines): I read a blurb yesterday from the writers that said that Dominic has been informed that he will not be back next season. Being the ever optomistic, it did not say he wouldn't return in season five. I know, I know, I got to let it go and take things for face value. Now the questions are: how and when will Charlie die? Will it be a season ending cliff hanger drawing us into season four where we have to wait all summer to see Charlie off'd?

(Random Thought) How long has been since we've seen Vincent? I cant remember.

Sawyer had some really good quips this episode: "Books, food, porno, and scotch;" "International House of Pancakes;" "Skeletor;" "Somebody's hooked on Phonics;" and his Little House On The Prarie reference... "I had mono..." He and Kate seem to be falling further apart, opening the door for a sloppy second reunion with Jack. Of course Jack is now hung up on Juliet.

When Kate said she was going for help, I initially thought she was going to try to find Carl and maybe Alex. As she got deeper into the jungle, Rousseau popped into my head. Crazy jungle lady become more crazy now that she know daughter alive... oogachucka... The writers can take Rousseau's character in many different directions now: she's good... she's bad...she good...she's bad...she's screwing everything up!!! Who knows which way they will go... er well, we know they are heading north.

Moving on to "Enter 77."

LOST: Enter 77 Airdate: March 3, 2007

Alas, we discover "The Flame." It's not at all what I thought. And neither is Patchy. Let's start with him.

1. Patchy: Although he lied the entire time, we will just have to assume that some of the things he said were true. He introduces himself as Mikhail Bakunin. He said that he was from Keiv and was a memeber of the Soviet Army until his military unit was decommissioned in the early 1990's. He originally said he was a member of the Dharma Initiative, but when he was discovered to be an Other, he confessed that he was never a member of the initiative, but that the rest of his story was true.

2. Ms Klugh: It's been a while since we have seen her... I think it was on the dock when they took Jack, Kate, and Sawyer. She is hiding out in the basement wired with C-4. The only reason I can think of as to why se is hiding is because she knew she would be recognized by Kate, which leads me to believe that she knew Kate and company were coming to the Flame. Locke did say that "he [Mikhail] would be expecting us." She must have been dispatched to the Flame when the "sky turned purple." I did find something interesting on Lostpedia - the translated Russian conversation between Mikhail and Klugh, see below:

Klugh: Mikhail. Mikhail! You know what to do.
Mikhail: We still have another way [out].
Klugh: We cannot risk it. You know the conditions.
Mikhail: There is another way.
Klugh: They captured us. We will not let them to get into the territory.
Klugh: You know what to do. That's an order.
Mikhail: We still have another way!
Klugh (in English): Just do it, Mikhail.
Mikhail: Forgive me. (shoots)

So...uh...what do you think the "other way out is?" Can they vaporize with a *poof* and turn into the smoke monster? Naaaaaaaaa. That's to easy and cheesy for this complex show.

3. The Purge: it really is hard to tell what is true and what is not. Because Mikhail said that "everything else is true," we can assume that the info we got on the Purge is true. Here's how I think it went down. The hostiles/Others have been on the island for a long time. Maybe some are even the decendants of the ship that crashed on the island (see the Black Rock). They learned the secrets of the island. The same secrets that brought the Dharma Initiative there. The hostiles must have given the DI a hard time. The purge was a way for the scientists to rid the island of the hostiles; however, the plan must have backfired. Those from Dharma that were left were taken hostage and brainwashed by the hostiles, who overtime became civilized and picked up were Dharma left off. I am just spouting off at the brain now. I could be way off on this one. I'm still trying to figure out how Juliet fits into this theory. She has only been on the island a short time (several years right?). She was recruited... if not by Dharma, then who? I better move on before I get way too out there.

4. Sayid: the flashbacks during this episode seemed like a waste of time. As I watched the episode over on the DVR, I would skip ahead. The only importance was that the delt with confession and forgiveness. The cat was seen in the flashbacks and at the Flame. On the island, the cat's name was Nadia. Mikhail says that she is named for Nadia Comaneci...

I'm late... I'm late... I feel like the white rabbit. I WILL catch up on my blog during my vacation next week, provided I don't consume too much green beer in Savannah during St. Patrick's Day in Savannah. Until then, here' a few things to ponder:

Lost: "Par Avion" Airdate: March 14, 2007

1. Claire is Jack's half-sister. Her father is Jack's father. They hinted at this last season during one of Ana's flashbacks when she was running around with Dr. Shepherd, Sr. and confirmed it last night.

2. I'll have to dig deeper into last nights episode, but there is something strange about Jack's dad. All the talk about alternative means and "she's alive, but she's not living..." [paraphrased]. What the hell? Now we have to know more about who Jack's dad REALLY is. Are Claire and Jack Dharma kids? I'm just thinkin'...hmmmmmm.

3. There is a lot of buzz and speculation on the forums that Locke is an "Other." I have always stuck to my theory that he knows more than he is letting on, but I wouldn't goes as far to say he was an Other. I am pretty sure he has a hidden agenda which we will hopefully discover next episode when we find out why he was in the wheel chair. When Patchy was cut off, he was going to say ,"...the John Locke I know was paralyzed..." I about lost it when he pulls out the C-4 that he "didn't know about." I pretty sure Sayid was wondering what the hell was up. Do you think he may have learned something more from the computer chess game?

4. Desmond has taken on the persona of "Death/Grim Reaper" for Charlie and it is creeping me out. How long will they draw out Charlie impending death. I guess if something happens to Desmond or he disappears like he has before, then Charlie is a gonner.

5. Timeline: Charlie says that they have been on the island for 80 days. Flight 815 crashed on September 22, 2004. That means that it is now December 10, 2004 on the island. There is a pretty cool timeline on Lostpedia (beware of spoilers though). So what do you think will happen when they get to day 108?

That's some of the main points from this episode. I'll get into more next week when I have a chance to get caught up. I still need to touch on the security fence, the banded birds, Patchy, and a few other things. Happy St. Patrick's Day! Bottoms Up!

... I mean, I have been watching; I just haven't been blogging. This "getting settled into a new house" thing is very difficult. This is the first time that we have moved with children. It feels like our life has been turned upside down... and it has. But everything seems to be calming down and we are settling in. I am going to try to do the "two birds" with one post and catch up. Let me first appologize with a quote from Sawyer and Jin:

"I'm sorry. You were right. Those pants don't make you look fat."

Also, since I switched to Dish, I trying to figure out how to get the show from my DVR to my capture computer. Until I figure it out, I will not be able to post screen captures.

Lost: "Tricia Tanaka Is Dead" Airdate: February 28, 2007

Hurley's dad is a deadbeat a-hole. When he left,I was thinking it could have been around the time that Cheech hooked up with Chong and went "Up In Smoke." Let's do some time-line math: Now = 2004 (It may be close to 2005 on the island now. I need a time reference). His dad left 17 years ago. That would put his exit in the year of 1987, right? So a Cheech and Chong paralell can not be drawn... not that it would fit anywhere andI don't know why I'm typing this. I think I am losing it. I shaved my head and got a tatoo last night before the show. Some sort of Chinese symbol that means "the cheese smells like my shoe." Alright, so I didn't get a tat, but I did shave my head... and I get to keep MY kids. Sorry, where was I? Even though Hugo's father was a deadbeat, he did deliver an important message (as I contradict myself): "Having hope is never stupid. In this world, you've got to make your own luck." So maybe he wasn't that bad after all. He even told Hugo to give away all of the money.

Even though it was a set-up, the Psychic/Tarrot was very spooky. Pulling the death card and knowing the "cursed" numbers: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 for those who need a refresher. Hurley's mom used the lottery winnings to lure his dad back, and I'm sure she didn't have to twist to hard. She must have told him in conversation that Hugo thought the numbers were cursed and gave him enough info to give to the psychic/tarrot reader.

Looking back, I'm pretty sure that we knew that Hurley bought Mr. Cluck's with some of his lotter winnings. He also buys the box company where Locke works/worked. I think we also knew something happened to Mr. Cluck's. I think it may have been referenced last season, but this is the first time that we saw the meteor...er...ateroid...er...meteor hit Mr. Cluck's and kill Tricia. I wonder what the meteor/asteroid line was all about? Lost: "Flashes Before Your Eyes" Airdate - Feb. 14th, 2007

Sorry!!! Sorry... sorry... I know I have fallen behind. I was on vacation last week when this episode aired. Disney was having some technical problems with their high speed access in the rooms, so I didn't want to pay for another 24 hours of access. When we got back on Saturday, we finished packing up the house and moved on Sunday... I know, we're insane. Anyway, I have been without internet for almost a week (not including work access thank goodness). Of course all of my screen captures are on my other computer that I haven't even hooked up at the new house yet. The good news is that my DSL should be up and running tomorrow or Friday, and I just got a call that DISH Network is on the way to install as I type. Thank goodness I will have TV tonight. I'm really looking forward to learning more about Jack's tattoos.

"Flashes Before Your Eyes" was just a bizarre and drawn out set up for Charlie's upcoming death. I guess the big question(s) would be WHEN and HOW will he die. If the universe has a way of self-correcting, I guess it is working overtime for Charlie. If you take a look back over the entire series, Charlie has been saved time and time again, even before Desmond started saving his life. He was saved when Ethan strung him up. You could even say that Locke saved him from a possible drug overdose by getting him off of the heroin. There are probably a few other instances that I can't think of right now. I'm betting on a season 3 finale Charlie death or possible death where they leave us hanging until the start of season four. If he dies at all. If you took part in the Lost Experience over the summer and watched some of the video easter eggs, one of the things that Hanso/Dharma was trying to achieve was to alter the sequence of the numbers (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42... the sum being 108). Whoever could change the sequence could change and alter history, at least that is a clue that I got from one of the videos.

The hatch numbers were re-introduced through this entire episode. The clock reads 1:08. A package is being delivered to 815, etc. (Of course I say, "etc." because I can remember anything else. I'm going off the top of my head... I left my notes somewhere. I hate moving... but I love the new house). It was a strange flashback...or was it real? Did Desmond bend time and space when he turned the key? We sort of put that question to Carlton Cuse when he called into Steve and Vikki this morning. Tom called me for a question and I gave him a really geeky one. Was Desmond living out his memory subconsciously or was he physically there re-living his life retaining future memories? Carlton said that they have not committed to time travel just yet... leaving the door open of course for the possibility.

The lady in the ring store was very freaky. "You must do this because it is what you are supposed to do" [paraphrase]. I don't know... I just don't know how this show is going to end. I hope I am not disappointed. If a long metal spike falls our of the back of Desmond's head and Neo shows up, I might just be...lol. I'm sure there are other things to discuss, but I have run out of time. I just got a call from my wife and she said that the Dish guys have been there for an hour and haven't even started. I better have TV tonight.

Lost: "Not In Portland" Airdate - Feb. 7 2007

I am currently on vacation, but I wanted to dig a little deeper on this episode before next week's episode so I don't fall behind. I didn't get to pull all of the screen caps that I wanted to, but I did get some important ones.

The writers and producers seem to be getting a little faster with their "Easter Eggs" and special inclusions - example: the plane that flies by the Miami city scape window has the Oceanic logo of course:

There are a few objects that fly across the screen, but don't really give us anything that we didn't already figure out. Just for fun... and to take up some bandwidth, I have posted Juliet's Biolab access card and the Biolab sign:

Perhaps some of the info found in these two captures will be of use later on... and then again, maybe not.

Now on to some of the creepier captures. Ethan Rom was all over Juliet's flashback.

At first, I thought he and Juliet may have been working on her fertility experiment, but it became very obvious that Ethan was working with this man:

Richard Alpert, a recruiter for Mittelos Bioscience Corporation. Here's something interesting from the wiki. "In Real-life Dr. Richard Alpert (a.k.a. Ram Dass) is a noted psychologist and Hindu spiritualist. In 1963 he was dismissed from Harvard University for his research (in collaboration with Timothy Leary, Aldous Huxley, Allen Ginsberg and others) into psilocybin, LSD-25, and other psychedelic chemicals. Later he traveled to India where he was given his Hindu spiritual name "Ram Dass" which translates as 'Servant of God'."

"Mittelos" is an anagram for "Lost Time." According to a wiki entry, it also spells out "Time Slot" which could be a sly reference to the new start time... but I like "Lost Time" better.

Ben was his usual creepy self. We know he told Juliet that he would let her go, but I would really like to here their entire conversation. I wonder if we ever will.

I'm no doctor, so is it possible for someone to come out of anesthesia like that? I didn't feel sorry for Ben, but poor Carl:

I may have to print Carl's raver pic out as a t-shirt. Before we get to the screen caps from the "A Clock Work Orange" room, let's start with the outside of that hatch.

It almost looks like a run down dormitory. It's gaurded by Aldo who is deep in thought reading "A Brief History of Time" by Stephen Hawking. That explains why he fell for the "ol' wookie prisoner gag."

You can also make out the logo for the Hydra station over his shoulder. The Hydra is the Zoological research station.

Here are a few of the captures from what they were making Carl watch as he was "re-programmed?" (I'm assuming).

Jacob? Hmmmmmmmmmm? Are we talking Jacob as a biblical reference or Jacob, the "him" that was referred to last season. Perhaps Ben reports to yet a higher authority?

There are a few other screen captures I did not get because we were literally walking out the door to leave for vacation. You should be able to find them on the web. I will be watching on Wednesday and I'm sure I will at least have a quick report from Old Key West in Walt Disney World.

Next Episode: "Flashes Before Your Eyes" - Charlie and Hurley will try to get Desmond to come clean about his new found gift. Flashbacks are supposed to be Desmonds, according to Lostpedia, but it says "unconfirmed."

Lost: "Not In Portland" Airdate - Feb. 7, 2007

Lost came back in a big way. I have chills right now. I wasn't going to blog until I re-watched the episode and pulled some screen caps. Since it is on at 10:00pm now, I won't be doing that until Thursday afternoon, but I couldn't stand it... I wanted to list a few of the things I picked up on.

Juliet was doing "illegal and unethical" fertility research using medication from her ex-husband's (Edmund Burke) lab. Her test subject or "guinea pig" is her sister Rachel. The experiment works and her sister gets pregnant. Because her research works, she is recruited by the Portland bio-science company. The name of the company is Mittellos Bio Science. Keep an eye out for an "easter egg" website built around the company. Mittelos is obviously a front for Hanso and the Dharma Initiative. It appears to me that Juliet was recruited by Mr. Alpert into captivity. She was/is forced to stay on the island. She has been there for 3 years, 2 months, and 28 days. We also see Ethan several times in the flashbacks. He is already working with Dharma. "We're not quite in Portland..." By the way, if you haven't figured it out yet, Mittelos is an anagram for "Lost Time." TIME is very important in this episode. I'll get more into it when I have "time" to re-watch and digest everything.

Quickly, what else did we learn:

1. Sawyer hasn't lost his edge: "Nice to meet you Sheenah" and "The Ol' Wookie Prisoner Gag."

2. Mr. Friendly aka Zeke's real name is Tom. At one point he begins to tell Jack why they didn't just leave and take Ben to a doctor. He says something about the purple sky, but I need to go back and watch it again.

3. Karl is in some sort of psychological brain-washing room and it was very "A Clockwork Orange." Screen caps coming soon.

4. In her interview in Portland, Juliet says that the only way she would be able to take the job was if Ed got hit by a bus... and he does. Was Ethan driving?

5. Alex is Ben's daughter, or at least Ben is all she has ever known. I wonder if she will ever discover the truth about Rousseau.

I'm sure there is much more to discuss, but this new time slot is killing me. I'll be back later on Thursday. Next week, I'll be blogging from Disney World.

*creeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkk* That's the sound of my bones as I stretch and dust myself off. Sorry I haven't been around much. We are in the process of moving the West household. There really hasn't been a reason to log on and post. Well, I guess I could have posted something when Evangeline Lilly's house burned down, but I was on vacation with limited internet access. Then when we got back it was Christmas, then New Years... I know: "Excuses, Excuses."

Since we are only two weeks and a day away, I decided to get back into the swing of things. And as we get ready for the second part of season three, let us remember what this show is really about:

I'm still recuperating from the holidays, but I couldn't resist logging on to post the "LOST Returns" promo. If my math is correct, we have 36 more days with today being Tuesday, January 2nd. LOST Moves to 10:00pm!!!!

In case you missed it, USA Today reported today in the "LIFE" section that LOST will move to the Wednesday, 10:00pm time slot when it returns on February 7. This is the third time that they have moved the show (Season One-8:00pm, Season Two-9:00p, and the remainder of Season Three-10:00pm). They don't want to compete with American Idol and I can understand that. With this move, they may just be able to increase their audience as people flip from Idol to Lost at 10:00p. The rest of the season is supposed to be incredible and without repeats or interuptions. Happy Holidays everybody!

Just because the show is going on hiatus for 13 weeks doesn't mean I will abandon my blog. I will be posting info from time to time just like I did over the summer. Please check back often. If you are a MySpace friend, I will try to post a bulletin whenever I add something new.

Here are a few things to watch for when the second part of season three begins on February 7th, 2007:

1. Patchy - our one-eyed friend who showed up on the monitor in the Pearl.
2. The Flame - the next hatch to be discovered. It is rumored to be a nuclear power source for the island.
3. The children - where are they?
4. The Plot bomb - this will change the entire "game."
5. The Character bomb.

Here's an excerpt from this weeks Ask Ausiello in TV Guide:
"You guys have been quoted as saying you're going to drop a "bomb" during the second half of the season.
Damon: There are two bombs being dropped, one of which is a character bomb, and that will happen within the first three episodes after the break. And the other is a more significant story bomb, a game-changer, as it were, and that will happen shortly after."

Lost: "I Do" Airdate - Nov. 8, 2006

"Whatever happens, everything will be very different won't it?"

Finally, a good nail biter to get us to February. I'm not sure if I saw that coming. I thought when Jack saw Kate...er... Monica...tee hee... with Sawyer he had a change of heart and was going to do the operation in order to save her and the man she has chosen to love. I figured he would go with Juliet's advice and make it look like an accident, but we are way beyond that now. So what do you think? Will Ben live or die? Will February 7th open with Kate still on the walkie-talkie telling Jack, "I can't!"

I'm trying to work out exactly where on the timeline Kate's flashbacks happened. I am assuming it was just after she blew up her father and had been on the run for a short while, but before the bank robbery where she goes to get the toy airplane that belonged to Tom (her childhood sweetheart).I could be wrong on this. The Oceanic tickets that Kevin gave to her to finally go on a honeymoon were to Costa Rica.

She could have swapped the tickets for Australia. If that was the case, then this flashback would have occurred after the bank robbery.

She has also relocated to Miami (note the Miami/Dade police cruiser) to marry Kevin as "Monica." Is Monica a Friends reference? The flashbacks also spanned several months: the night before the wedding, the wedding, and then a little into the marriage...six months to be exact.

When Kate calls Agent Mars (remember that guy?), he says it is the Feast of The Ascension. This happens 40 days after Easter. If they are in the year 2004, Easter was on April 11 and the current date is May 21st. That would also mean that they were married in November of 2003. What does this have to do with anything? I don't know.

Nathan Fillion plays the role of Kevin the cop. You may have seen him on Firefly, Buffy, Saving Private Ryan. I think I remember him best from Two Guys, A Girl, And A Pizza Place. Even though Kate says she only "drugged" him, you're not thinking what I'm thinking are you? Black Widow? Naaaaaa. She seemed to want to protect him from the firestorm of an investigation that was about to happen.

"Compound Breached. Compound Breached." Some interesting things were said as Alex bumrushes the worksite. "Did the doctor get out again?" asks Danny Pickett. "How the hell did she get over here?" This is only adding more fuel to the fire of the second group of Others theory. The doctor that he is referring to, is that Alex or someone else... perhaps Patchy? "You know your not supposed to be here." Where are they keeping the other Others? Why are they "locked up?" Alex really seems to know her way around. I guess rightfully so since she has been there since she was a baby. I'm also wondering why both Pickett and Juliet were keeping her away from Ben? I bet Ben saw all of that anyway in his little monitoring station.

"They're going to kill your boyfriend just like they killed mine." Carl's dead I take it?

Even though I try to stay away from spoilers, I broke down this afternoon and watched three extended scenes that were posted on YouTube. One was the scene in which Locke goes off with Sayid on a "detour." John seems to be figuring some things out. He is theorizing that it was the smoke or "Monster" that brought flight 815 down. If you've been following along you might remember that there was a little phantom that showed up on the very first episode. Let's review:

I'm not sure if Eko told John to get his stick with his last breath, but that's where Locke and Sayid went. I found it somewhat humorous when someone asked about taking Eko back to the camp and John said that they would bury him right there, a comment that made Desmond say, "Are we?" Desmond can see into the future. He probably knows everyone's fate now. It's not a gift that he asked for and he doesn't seem to want to share it. Perhaps it is tormenting him.

It is at Eko's funeral that Locke gets a message. And we have seen the message before back in "Further Instructions" written on Eko's stick.

I'm not sure exactly what it means. I can speculate that Locke's gonna take it to mean head for the mountains. Once there, he will see the other island. I take back my statement about it being hidden. Oh yeah, "it" by the way is the Hydra.

Look that up on lostpedia. I was also reviewing the first episode of this season and it looks like their community IS on the same island as the crash, and they have just taken Jack, Kate, and Sawyer to the Hydra on the other island.

My wife is thoroughly disgusted that Kate hooked up with Sawyer and is probably dry heaving again looking at this pic:

A little earlier based on the look on her face, you would think that Kate loves Jack.

"I'll give you two some privacy." How about a freakin' glory hole?!?

It's getting late and my brain is sort of mushy... can you tell? Let me try to wrap this up. Only a few more things.

Who is Jacob? Did I miss something. He was the one who made the list and Jack wasn't "on the list" according to Pickett. That would mean that only Kate and Sawyer were on the list, right? And why? The only list I have seen was this one from last season's "Three Minutes."

One last thing. Here's a screen capture of the phone booth. I haven't had a chance to look it up yet, but I'm wondering if it will fall under the Hanso umbrella like Widemore Labs, etc.

Ok I lied. One more. The story that Jack tells Kate in the very first episode was about a spinal surgery that he almost botched while in his residency. He said he was just going to let the fear in, but for only five seconds. After he counted to five, the fear was gone. He sewed up the girl and she was fine.

Fear turns to Hope when the series returns on February 7, 2007. "See you on the other side."

The Glass Eye

Thanks to Susan and Leslie for picking up on this. I went back to "The Other 48 Days" on the season two dvd and there it was. You can even here it hit the floor and roll. I think I was so focused on the bible that Eko was holding and the radio that Bernard found that the glass eye didn't even phase me. Here's the pic of Libby holding the eye:

Reading through the Lostpedia entry on the glass eye, the most likely candidate to be the owner of the eye is our new friend "Patchy."

I have a strange feeling that Patchy will become and important character later in this series. He may even be the leader of the other "Others." I have said before that I believe that there are two sets of Others. Every good experiment has the main group and then a control group. Jorge "Hurley" Garcia was on with Steve & Vikki and he even has his own "two different groups of Others" theory.

Lost: "The Cost of Living" Airdate - November 1, 2006

Sorry!!!! I know I'm late on this. Thanks for all of the e-mail. As much as I love this show, I'm kind of glad that it is going to go on hiatus. I have so much going on over the holidays that I don't think I would be able to keep up with it. Let's jump right in:

Rest In Peace Monsieur Eko. I have to make a "confession" of my own. Last season I thought that it was probably that moment at the airport when Yemi was shot and Eko assumes the identity of a priest that he finally gives his life to God and begins to walk a path of righteousness. I was wrong. It turns out that he remained a bad mofo. A wolf in sheeps clothing. We still don't know what happened if and when he went to London to study in his brothers place... and we may never know now. Even as he stood at the gates (of hell?), being judged by "death," Eko still would not confess because he felt that everything he had done in his life was justified because he did it to survive. We'll get more into that in a second as well as try to dissect the smoke monster. Hang on, let's backtrack a bit... but first, doesn't Amina remind you of Miss Klugh?

Maybe it's just me. I wonder if there might be a connection brewing? "CALL ME NOW!!!" Oh wait... I'm think of Miss Cleo...Cleo...nevermind.

In one flashback scene, Amina does tell Eko that he is just like his Yemi and that he is a good man too. Little does she know... Eko was going to sell the vaccine to get cash before he left the country. What a bastard. It could have been a rouse on Eko's part to draw out the other men who controlled the vaccine. In that case, I take back the bastard comment.

Something tells me they are not playing "I Love The Night Life" at this Disco Bar.

Break out the Kool-aid, it looks like Jack is joining the cult.
Nice shirt. I'm not sure what is more obscure, Colleens funeral (which seems to fit the description of a Sikh ceremony) or Atlanta native Brenda Lee's "I Wonder" playing on the loud speaker. Little Miss Dynamite is still alive btw. Most of the music featured last season came posthumously and several of the artists featured were killed in plane crashes. She does have a one degree connection to Patsy Cline so I guess that counts. Who hit the play button to start the song on the loud speaker? Was it the one eyed pirate in the other hatch (we'll get to him in a second...arrrr)? I have many other Tripp questions such as when did Sayid get back? He was just there... kind of like the new characters, Niki & Paulo. I'm not sure I like them. I wonder what their purpose is going to be? I was hoping to get a little action adventure side story of Sayid, Sun & Jin's trip back to the beach camp. I guess not.

Yes, I'll take a pineapple banana smoothie with a protein boost please.
Locke is feeling a bit more secure with himself these days: "It's a free island." "I'm not Jack" "Don't mistake coincidence for fate."

Why is it that I just don't trust Juliet? Ben even gets inside Jack's head with the 'ol "has it not occurred to you that Juliet bears a striking resemblance to your ex-wife?" I guess if you were trying to break someone, you would want to gain their trust by using someone they feel comfortable around. She appears to be Ben's polar opposite... as far as her bedside manner goes. It could have been that way at first, but maybe Juliet took it too far and is falling for Jack... or maybe she is just trying to make Ben jealous. Sawyer doesn't trust her. He even makes a comment about her a few episodes ago.

"I want you to WANT to save my life." Great! Now I have that damn Cheap Trick song stuck in my head. So if Jack wants to save Ben's life, he becomes "invested"... I guess that means he becomes one of them because he falls in love with Juliet and then he would be operating on Ben because he "chose" to. That sort of leads us back to the discussion on free will...or lack there off as it seems under the reign of Ben. Perhaps that is why Juliet wants jack to kill him and make it look like an accident. Ben does say that they are beyond the whole "want you to Want to" a little later on in that same scene and then he starts a discussion on believing in GOD -"Two days after I found out I have a fatal tumor on my spine, a spinal surgeon fell out of the sky. And if that's not proof of GOD, I don't know what is." I think I have been flip-flopping on whether or not the Others are religious people. Some of the things that have been said lead me to believe that they are not, and then Ben goes and says something like that. Damn! (*erasing some theories I had jotted down a while back*).

So who be the pirate, me hearties? Arrrrrrrrrrggggg. Well, the first time you see this guy with the eye patch, I guess you could assume pirate. However, if you look closer you can see the top part of the Dharma logo on his jump suit. Who could it be? Kelvin? Is that guy still alive? I thought Desmond put him out of his misery. What's to say that it's not a video loop of some sort? Psychological trickery. Or maybe he is the guy who is controlling the smoke... that is if the smoke is not in fact death.

Juliet's big re-enactment of the 1987 INXS video "Mediate" was interesting. I'm not sure there are any plot connections between the show and "To Kill A Mockingbird" though. I think this is where my distrust of Juliet came from. She seems intent on gaining control and sees the operation as an opportunity to get that control. With Ben out of the way, she could finally go home... if that is her intention. Of course this could all be a test. But why go to all the trouble?

We learn in the final flashback that the reason Eko was building a church at the end of last season was because he owed Yemi one. He was at least trying to make his peace with GOD and his brother, but in the end, realized that he only did what he did in his life to survive. And that brings us to Yemi and the smoke monster.

"You speak to me as if I were your brother." Who the hell was he, it, whatever? Was it the smoke in the form of Yemi? Is the smoke death or even God? Or is the smoke something mechanical.

As I watched Eko versus the smoke a few times, I noticed a very distinctive mechanical crank sound. It was the same sound from season one when the pilot is pulled out of the cockpit, and there was another time that I heard that sound but the episode eludes me.

So what does Eko really tell Locke at the end? That's what I want to know. Locke tells Sayid he says that Eko says, "We're next." I have a feeling that was just Locke trying to scare everyone back to the beach camp. I listened to the Eko whisper several times and I swear he says something about "a secret." But I can't make out any of the other words. The promo for next weeks epi hints that Locke does head off on some sort of goose chase... or could it be a smoke out?

Did I hit on everything? I hope so. Sorry for the delay. I'll be a bit more "in the game" this Wednesday. "I Do" is being billed as the Fall Season finale. Does that mean they will make us by two different DVD sets next fall?

Lost: "Every Man For Himself" Airdate - October 25, 2006

I was a little worried because it looked like blogspot had crashed a little while ago. So just to be safe, I wrote my blog on the 'ol MySpace page. I really only hit on key points. I am pasting what I wrote there to this site and will be back with more later in the day...of course I say that now, but it will probably be more like next week. Here's what I posted on Myspace:

1. They (Jack, Kate, & Sawyer) are not on the same island!!!! I think I touched on this theory at the end of last season. They are hidden from the other island through some sort of cloaking technology. But didn't the plane crash on the same island where their nice little neighborhood was. I guess it's all up to perspective.

2. Someone has a tumor on their spinal cord. Is it Ben? The preview for next week suggests it, but Lost promos as we have learned can be deceiving. Convenient that Jack's a spinal surgeon, huh?

3. James "Sawyer" Ford was turned in by Cassidy Phillips, his con victim in "The Long Con" from last season. Remember when he does a classic bag switch and there is no one sitting in the black car out front?

4. James is a father. Cassidy drops this bomb when she visits Sawyer in prison. His daughter is named Clementine Phillips. Of course the thought has crossed my mind that it could be Cassidy running a con of her own. He does set up an account for Clementine when he makes a deal with the warden and the Treasury Department.

5. Sawyer was running a con on Munson the whole time. I figured as much from the first flashback. He lied and cheated his way Out of prison. The $10 Million was stashed in Unit 23C in a red Bronco located at a Quick Store Facility outside of Sawgrass.

6. "Live Together, Die Alone." So much for every man for himself.

7. Juliet is really harboring some resentment towards Ben. This has been escalating as Jack starts to get inside her head.

8. "Kill Da Wabbit..." Hey Rocky! Wanna see me pull a rabbit with the number 8 on it out of my satchel? There was no pace maker. Everything seems to be so psychological with the Others.

9. Juliet is a fertility doctor. The crash cart was broken. It seemed that many of the Others don't really know what they are doing when it comes to the medical side of things: "Through the sternum like in the movies." What the hell have you been watching, Pulp Fiction? Oh wait, movies as in the Dharma instructional movies... never mind.

10. She loves me. She loves me not. " I just said that to get him to stop hitting you." BS! You know you love him. Kate's bringing sexy BACK! RRRRooooowwww.

11. That was a short-lived role for Colleen. It was nice of Jack to step up and at least try to help someone. But then he slips back into his , " I don't care about making YOU feel better. Hmmmmfffff."

12. "Of Mice & Men" was the book that was blatantly mentioned throughout the episode.

13. Desmond does use his new gift to help. He tries to get Claire to move and when she resists, he builds a lightning rod because he can now see the future. I wonder if he can see the other island.

14. Ben's a bad ass... and he sees all through his little voyeur room.

Did I touch on everything? You don't want to miss next week. The forums are a buzz because someone is going to die and we are supposed to be shocked when we find out who. I'll leave you with that... for now.

Lost: "Further Instructions" Airdate - October 18, 2006

Before I get started, I have to ask if you waited around for next weeks promo? This show is getting psycho. Is Ben jealous that Kate may have feelings for Sawyer? Or is it all part of his psychological game that he is playing for "Two Weeks?" I'm getting ahead of myself.

I think we know from the last two seasons that Locke has issues... sorry I now mean ISSUES. Who in the hell did he hook up with? He found the love and warmth that a family can provide in a hippie commune-cult with a sweat lodge? (Eddie Murphy as Buckwheat is playing in my head right now- "Pookin for nub in all da wong paces.") It now appears to me that Locke has been an unintentional f-up his entire adult life. He means well, but he is just too naive and trusting of others because he is wanting desperately to be loved and accepted.

Eddie, the undercover cop, took full advantage of this as he used Locke to infiltrate the Coresh-esque (that's hard to say) compound. Eddie thinks that they are planning to blow something up. Locke laughs at this comment. Maybe they do have a plan like that in the works and Locke is too naive to see it. On the surface it looks like they are nothing more than pot dealers. And even though he lowers his gun as Eddie starts to walk away, they left the ending of that flashback open. Eddie did make some pretty "Otherish" statements to Locke, such as, "You're not a murderer. You're a good man."

When Edward came to the commune, he was wearing a Geronimo Jackson t-shirt. This band was mentioned last season. I thought that they were a fake band, but Lindelof and Cuse said that they are a real, but obscure band from the 70's. Here's a pic of the album cover:

Is that Libby holding the tambourine? Something I just noticed is that the wiki search for Geronimo Jackson will re-direct you to "The Hunting Party." That's strange. If you want to read more about this obscure band, you can visit the lostpedia site, but beware of spoilers.

"Lift up your eyes and look north" - Genesis 13:14... paraphrased of course because there was not enough space to write the entire verse on his stick. There are a few other verses referenced on Eko's stick:

John 3:05 - Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

Romans 6:12 - "Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires."

Acts 4:12 - "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

I can't make out the verse on the top left, but for those who are...uh... for the sake of argument lets say...uh...sad like me... and you have just zoomed in on the screen capture of Eko's stick, the hatch numbers have been carved into it. I can make out 4, 8, 15, & 16, but you know the rest.

So was the stick blown that far up in the air that it just happened to fall on Locke at that moment? And why were Locke, Eko, and Desmond blown AWAY from the hatch when they probably should have implode with it?

We now know that the release of the magnetic anomaly has given one of them a special gift. Desmond can see into the future. I have to credit my wife for that one. She figured it out right away. Hurley also caught on. I wonder if Desmond will share the gift and help the survivors as they set off to rescue Jack, Kate, & Sawyer. I bet Desmond knows that already. He did reference Locke's speech before he made it.

I'm not sure why Locke was mute after the implosion. Perhaps it has something to do with a spiritual re-birth. He definitely gets spiritual inside his sweat lodge (a ceremonial sauna first used by Native Americans). Read more about it here.

As Charlie puts it, the "indoor fireplace is very snazzy." Was Charlie being a bit more of a smart ass than usual? Locke, in his attempt to hasten his little one on one with the island, mixes up some peyote... er well, I assume it's peyote. It could very well be some other sort of hallucinogenic plant.

It's really been too long since we've seen Boone. I talked to Ian over the summer when he was doing a phone junket for his movie Pulse (look at me, I'm name dropping...geez) and he sort of hinted that he may be back on the show. Although only a guest star, I bet we will still see him a few more times this season as Locke's spirit guide as he is there to help Locke find his way again and "BRING THE FAMILY BACK TOGETHER?" WTF? This was a somewhat sinister statement. Maybe it was just they way he said it. Is he referring to the family of survivors? Or could he be talking about the family of the Others? There are supposed to be kids somewhere. Ah damn, my brain is starting to fry. Maybe I should stop for the night... naaaahhh, I'll keep going.

Are Locke's legs that ugly or was that a set up shot to show the point of injury on his legs? As well as show why he was in the wheel chair? It looks broken and maybe burned.

"Someone in this airport is in serious danger. You are the only one who can save them." Even after watching the promo earlier this week over and over, I still find this scene bizarre...in a 12 Monkeys kind of way. "Forget it. He's helping himself" is what Boone says about Desmond. So I guess he will not use his gift to help the survivors. There were a few cool things that the producers threw in for the fanatics:

Hurley inputs the numbers into his computer.

The security wand makes the beeping sound from the hatch computer.

And yes that is Ben wanding Jack in sweat lodge trip, man.

Based on the number of times that "clean up your own mess" echoes in the hallucination, I take it that was an important line? And then the damn polar bear jumps out of the fire causing some temporary and minor incontinence.

This will totally be my album cover if I can ever get my 80's metal band going.

As Eko was dragged by the polar bear, he left a trail for Locke to track him. I wonder how many bears are loose on the island? One was killed and another captured Eko. Mr. Friendly did use the plural when referring to the bears, so we know there were at least two. Funny that Charlie liked to watch nature programs when he was high. I had some friends in college that did the same damn thing. Charlie drops the knowledge that polar bears are smart and crafty... of course these are Dharma bears which means they are probably smarter than the average bear...hey Boo Boo.

"Bad things happen to people who hang around with me." This statement is a forshadowing of what is to come in future Locke flashbacks.

... I hate to quit now, but I need sleep. I'll be back later on Thursday with more screen caps and commentary on this episode.

I am going back through the show just to make sure that I didn't miss anything. I heard a rumor today that a major character is going to die in the episode after next (next being tonights epi because I neglected my blog for a week). Not sure who and I really don't want to see anyone go. Back to "Further Instructions."

I asked before, if it imploded how is it that Desmond, Locke, and Eko were blown away from it? Was it when he turned the key? Did that release of magnetic energy send them sailing before that hatch was sucked in? We may never know. Then again, keep it on a back burner because it very well may be addressed in another episode.

So when do you think Hurley's luck will run out? Saved by a canteen...dude. As Hurley is filiing them in on his adventures on the dock, Locke is shocked to learn that Henry, uh...Ben... is "their leader."

Oh look! It's Ben's old Tonka truck. There are a lot of bones in that cave. Even one skeleton has a Dharma logo on it. Are they all bear kills? Could that be some of the people involved in the Dharma Initiative when the "accident" happened in 1984-ish?

"You can still protect them. You can still save them. You will find them... after all, you are a hunter John." So who was speaking through Eko? Someone from Locke's past? God? The island? The Black Smoke? *Insert Mystery Stinger here* Tune in next time when you here Eko say, "Aaaaaaarrrarrrruuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh."

Lost: "Further Instructions" Preview

This promo in itself is just bizarre. If you have been reading my season three blog since I began writing it over the summer, you will recognize the guy pushing the wheelchair.

Here's a quick show synopsis paraphrased from tvguide.com: (I'm going to hide the text because I know some don't like to read any spoilers before watching the show. Highlight below to read.)

During "Further Instructions," we will learn what happened to Locke, Eko, & Desmond after the implosion of the hatch. Hurley will finally make it back to the beach camp and fill everyone in on what happened to Jack, Kate, & Sawyer. Claire finds someone sleeping in Jack's bed... I wouldn't say they were sleeping (or were they). We will be introduced to Nikki and Paulo, two of the new characters added this season played by Kiele Sanchez and Rodrigo Santoro.

Lost: "The Glass Ballerina" Airdate - October 11, 2006

My wife is sitting across from me screaming that Lost has "jumped the shark." And then she says she wants them to stay on the island and be like Gilligan thus destroying any further credibility in any argument she may make to back up her first statement. So Na na na na na naaaahh...

This episode could have also been called "No Soup For You," "Busted," or "Kate Has A Nice Bum." I really have no idea where to start. Let me just jump in with some of the things we learned (or might have learned if you were paying attention):

1.Time Line Check: It is Now November 29, 2004 on the island and they have been there for 69 days.

2.Benry Gale's full name is Benjamin Linus and he has lived on the island all of his life. I take it he was born there... or maybe he was manufactured there? He can also now be pegged as a voyeur because I just know he was checking out Kate in the shower. It has not been officially addressed on the show yet, but I made the assumption last episode that he and Juliet are married because they appear to be at odds with each other, just like a real couple are when they are bickering. "You never made me soup." Jealous much? To tell you the truth, after seeing Juliet burn those book club muffins, I'm not sure I would eat the soup. It could also be that they are brother and sister.

3. Sun is a pathological liar, defined below:
"Compulsive lying, or pathological lying, is a common disorder often caused by low self-esteem and a need for attention. Often, the liar does not realize how often he or she is lying because it becomes second nature. Compulsive lying alienates friends and loved ones and often brings about the opposite of what the liar wants: instead of getting the attention they often crave, they end up pushing people away. With therapy, many people can overcome their compulsion to lie and salvage their interpersonal relationships before it is too late." - healthdiaries.com

We also learn that Sun knows how to sail a boat.

4. Jin is not a murderer. I assumed last season that we might see future episodes in which he did kill somebody while doing Mr. Paik's dirty work. He let Mr. Lee live and tells him to leave the country; start a new life. A few minutes later Mr. Lee comes crashing down on Jin's car in an "apparent" suicide. Who besides me is thinking that there was someone else in Mr. Lee's room who helped him up and over the rail of the balcony. I'm envisioning a later flash back scene in which Mr. Paik walks out of the shadows in Mr. Lee's apartment. It would also ad a twist if it were Sun in the room, but Colleen says, "I know you are not a murderer," when they are ambushing the boat. I dunno, Mr. Lee was clutching the pearls he tried to give to Sun. Maybe it WAS just a suicide. You just never know with this show. We also learn that Jin understands English better than he lets on and he knows that Sayid and Sun have betrayed him.

5. Alex is back, but only for a few seconds. We find out that Kate is wearing her dress. She also asks about Carl. I wonder if my earlier theory about the other group of "Others" has some legs.

6. Kate & Sawyer: is there a real love connection there or is it all part of their plan? Sawyer kisses Kate knowing it will start a fight. He wanted to get in that scuffle on purpose to size 'em up and see who could throw down. As nice as she appears, there is something about the blonde one (Juliet) that Sawyer doesn't like. He says that she would have no problem pulling the trigger whereas the others have not seen any real action. The most important thing, though: Kate tastes like strawberries and Sawyer tastes like fish biscuits. Backtracking a little, I found out why Kate looked so sad and had cut wrists. It wasn't in the episode, but I found it in a few forums. After she left Ben on the beach, she tried to make a run for it and was roughed up a bit. She was not raped.

7. Sayid's plan was to ambush the Others as they came to the fire. He was going to kill all but two of the Others. With two survivors, one would make the other cooperate.

8. Colleen: she has been credited as a new recurring character, so she shouldn't die from the gun shot wound.

9. The Offer comes in the final five minutes."I want you to change your perspective. If you cooperate, if you trust us, we'll send you home," Ben says to Jack. I love the fact that Jack laughed when Ben says that the Red Sox won the world series. Then watching his face change as he watches the Sox on TV. He seems like he is close to breaking. Will he take the offer? All signs point to "Yes." But I bet it will be like when Lando gets involved with Jabba the Hutt's crew in order to help save Han Solo... ah hell, I'm geekin' out again...

I think that's it. The only other thing that comes to mind is the statement Juliet makes at the beginning when she learns with Ben that they have a boat. "Sailing in circles can keep them busy." Desmond ended up sailing in a big circle. I wonder why that is. Does it have something to do with the magnetism of the island?

I can't wait for the next episode. We will finally find out what happened to Desmond, Charlie, Locke, and Eko after the hatch explodes... and an old friend returns to take Locke on a spiritual journey.

Lost: "The Glass Ballerina" Preview

I have been doing some reading as I get ready for Wednesday night because I couldn't drag myself away from this show if my life depended on it. Here's a little of what to expect: (mostly from TV Guide)

Sayid has a plan to find Jack, but it's going to endanger Sun & Jin. Kate and Sawyer are forced to work in harsh conditions (maybe penance for their sins? possibly? hmmm?)while Ben (Henry Gale for those haven't caught up yet)makes Jack...*insert best Brando impression here* an offer he can't refuse.

Also, Alex (Rousseau's daughter) is back in this episode. I have been wanting to learn more about her; more specifically, exactly why she doesn't seem to want to "go along" with the Others and what their mission is. From what we have learned, she was taken from Rousseau as a baby. You would think that being raised in that environment would have programmed her to think a certain way, the way of the Others. However, she seems to be in the role of a rebel. Maybe she and Carl had something going on, discovered what the Others were really up to, and are trying to get out...where ever out is. Maybe Carl took the heat for Alex when she helped Claire escape and that's how he ended up in the cage. OR... this just popped into my head, I talked about the possibilty of there being two groups of Others many times during season two. I have read that this theory was addressed in the video podcast and that Lindelof and Cuse stated that there are two groups of others. What if the children have their own camp somewhere else on the island and they are living some sort of "Children of The Corn," meets "Animal Farm," meets Peter Pan's Lost Boys kind of lifestyle. That would be wierd. Uh oh, this is turning into more of my own commentary rather than just a quick show synopsis. Let me get back to my original thought.

According to a few sites that I recently visited, we should meet a new recurring character in this episode. Colleen (played by Paula Malcolmson)is said to be tough with obvious military training.

As far as the flashbacks, this episode is reported to be Sun/Jin-centric.

Lost: "A Tale of Two Cities" Airdate - October 4, 2006

...hang on...I need a tissue...my eyes are still watering... I can't believe October 4th is finally here... talk amongst yourselves... Ok, I'm ready.

I'm re-watching the season three premiere as I type. I guess I'll go in chronological order, but I really want to jump in and ask the big questions: What will happen over the next Two Weeks? How is it that Juliet has a file of Jack's life and can basically tell him anything he wants to know? And why is Kate so sad when she is brought to the cage opposite Sawyer? Did Fenry(we now know his name is Ben) tell her that he hooked up with Ana? I guess I can try to answer those in a little while. Let's start at the beginning.

I think I'm a little over excited and digging way too deep again, but as Juliet grabs the Petula Clark CD and plays "Downtown," I recognized the inside CD cover. I think it's the sleeve for the Talking Heads "Speaking In Tongues" album.

Is that important? Probably not. Also, Petula Clark is still alive. Most of the songs that were played during season two had to do with artists who were dead or had disappeared as was the case with Glenn Miller, and we just happen to hear "Moonlight Serenade" (again) on Jack's car radio. We heard it last season on the radio that Sayid and Hurley hooked up and ol' Hugo drops a "lost in time" reference.

The book club is discussing a Stephen King novel. Adam is pretty adamant (no pun intended) that it is "religious hokum pokem science fiction without a metaphor" trash. Something that is said during this quick conversation leads me to believe that Ben and Juliet are married. There have been a lot of rumors claiming that Jack will find a new love interest this season and the most likely candidate will be Juliet. Will this be what sets Benry off?

Anyway, the book title is never mentioned, but if I had to guess, I'd say it was "The Stand." It's about the final battle of good and evil, and a plague that wipes out most of the earth is part of the story line. However, as I check some of the forums, many are saying that the Stephen King book is "Carrie." Yep. I just saw some hi-def captures and it is "Carrie." Juliet also makes a comment about free will actually existing... but we all know that Ben is the one in charge, and they all seem to fear him.

Seeing Flight 815 from the perspective of the Others was incredible. I had heard that the first five minutes would be an opening similar to that of season two. I thought we might see a mystery perspective of the Others taking Jack, Kate, and Sawyer, or another perspective of the hatch explosion. I had no idea that they would rewind it all the way back to September 22, 2004. And where was Ben coming from when they all went outside after the earthquake? Is their utopian society based on polygamy? I'm just throwing it out there folks. As I watched, it seemed Ben and Juliet may have been having some marital problems, if in fact they are married.

After the Others kidnap Kate, Jack & Sawyer, they split 'em up. Jack is in another Dharma Initiative facility, The Hydra Station. Supposedly it's an underwater hatch with a purpose of studying Sharks and Dolphins. I swear I read over the summer that Lindelof and Cuse said that there was no underwater hatch. Actually, I still have the transcript from their appearance at Comicon - 11 a.m.: Cuse and Lindelof deny the existence of an "underwater hatch." Was this meant to throw us off? Or do they want Jack to "think" he is under water? Hmmmmmmm. They also drew blood from Jack's arm.

I couldn't make out everything that was said through the "broken" intercom, but I'm sure everyone got the "Let it go Jack," which seems to be the theme of Jack's life based on what we saw in the flashback which I will get to later. I don't get the repo man story, unless he was doing the same thing Henry...er...Ben was doing when he was captured... telling lies.

Kate wakes up in a locker room with a shower running. It's here that we discover that Kate is not Mr. Friendly's "type." Who the hell is his type? Should we jump in and assume now? They also took blood from Kate.

The whole "wear this" thing was a little creepy, but she looks smokin' hot in that dress btw and the bacon and eggs are making my stomach growl. I may be making a Waffle House run tonight. On the beach Ben makes her feel comforted and civilized and then drops the Two Weeks bomb. "The next two weeks are going to be very unpleasant." Unpleasant just for Kate? Or for all of them? I smell some re-programming coming on.

The beach hut scene totally reeked of "The Silence of The Lambs." "Hello Clarice...I'm having an old friend for dinner..."

Ben even alludes to the possible Kate/Sawyer relationship that should happen this season. What do you think they did to Kate between the beach and the cage. Her wrists were really torn up from the cuffs.

They would not have gotten that way from eating a lite breakfast on the beach. And she had a very sad look on her face.

Sawyer added some great comic relief in the episode as he tried to figure out the sequence to get some food. "What? You've got more important things to do?" he ask Carl.

But I think it was Mr. Friendly who had the line of the night with, "You got yourself a fish biscuit."

I guess the big question here is, who the hell is Carl?

And why is he locked up? Another good question would be, where the hell are the bears? And do they happen to be polar bears? Sawyer gets zapped pretty good by Juliet, and I don't think they showed a close up of his arm with a cotton ball and band-aid on it. Did they not need or want Sawyers blood? Then why was he taken?

What we learned in the last few minutes:
1. Jack is in an "under water" hatch called the Hydra. (Supposedly)
2. The Others were "left over" from the Dharma Initiative which was a long time ago.
3. "It doesn't matter who we were, it only matters who we ARE." This is much bigger than just the Others. This could very well be the underlying theme of the entire show(or even life itself). Let it go Jack... just let it go.
4. They have Jack's (and probably everyone else's) entire life on file. This is very "St. Peters Gate," even though the whole purgatory theory was shot down in the first season.
5. I think we knew this, but just to reiterate, Jack is a spinal surgeon based out of St. Sebastions Hospital in Los Angeles.
6. Jack is beginning to finally "let it go" as he comes to terms with his personal demons.
7. "Look on the bright side. Now you have something to fix." (Himself)
8. Juliet seemed a little pissed at Ben. Was it because he was going to let Jack kill her...or is it just the book club thing?

I haven't even gotten to the flashbacks yet. It's getting late so let me see if I can sum it up quickly. Jack's obsessed with finding out who his wife is seeing on the side...even though she is divorcing him. So obsessed that he has forgotten who he is. He's even ignoring his job... he finished a year before everyone else at medical school, so his job should have been important to him. Jack seems sure that his dad is sleeping with Sarah. Christian has been sober for 50 days, but if I heard the dialog at the end correctly, the little incident at the AA meeting drove his dad to start drinking again. Can I assume that this is when he heads to Australia?

I am so glad that the new season is underway. I'm still a little peeved at the schedule: five more episodes, then a 13 week hiatus until it picks back up during February sweeps to finish out the season. I better get to bed. I have watched it twice already and think I touched on everything. Let me know if you saw something that I may have missed.

The season three premiere of LOST is now just hours away... ok so it's still a few days away, but I like to round up since I'm a glass half full kind of guy. I'm a little confused about the first episode though. All summer everything I read about this first show said that it would be Kate-centric. Well, I'm standing in line at Kroger last night and picked up this weeks TV Guide. Josh Holloway is on the cover with a big bold LOST across the front. Anyway, I'm reading the "Sneak Peek" spoilers and it says that this first episode is all about Jack. Huh? Here's what it says: (**Spoiler Alert** Highlight at your own risk)

"Jack will lose it in flashbacks when he suspects wife Sarah of having an affair with his boozin' dad."

I'm going to log off and check out some of the spoiler boards and show websites. I doubt it , but maybe TV Guide has gotten a head of themselves? They are usually on the money with the show synopsis though. I'll be back later.

Ian Somerhalder who played Boone, the first major characters to buy-it in season one, on the hit series LOST has come back for another go around. Only this time, it's not popping up inexplicably in someone's flashback, as you might guess.

Hot off the release of his big screen horror "Pulse", the former LOST star spent a week in Hawaii working on new material for an upcoming episode of LOST which centers on the bushman-who-lost-his-way John Locke.

In the episode Locke, who is still reeling from his actions in the cataclysmic season finale, begins to have visions of the young man who died to keep the hatch a secret. Boone leads Locke to a redemption of sorts and sets him off on a "kung fu" like journey to unravel yet another island mystery. Sources say this journey rivals the season one fascination with the hatch and will find John Locke squarely returning to his mysterious mysticism and McGyver-ish ways.

I know I said last season that I would try to stay away from spoilers. I just couldn't resist this one since I had somewhat addressed it. I have more spoilers on that e-mail, so if you want it just let me know.

Less Than A Month To Go!

As I sit here anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Lost: Season 2 DVD that I pre-ordered from Amazon, I have been going through a Season 3 "sneak peak" article from last weeks TV Guide. I just tracked my DVD and it arrived in Atlanta yesterday. It still says it will be delivered on Sept. 15th. I hope it doesn't sit around the USPS for a week. Anyway, I can't seem to find a link to the TV Guide article I just read so I will paraphrase the key points.

1. The Show Schedule: this has already been discussed. There will be six new episodes starting October 4th. The show takes a hiatus until February when it returns with the rest of the season in full with no repeats.

2. Focus/Direction: Season 3 will focus less on mythology and more on action-adventure and romance. Lindelof says it "will feel more like an Indian Jones movie this year." Does this mean that we won't find out what the giant four-toed foot statue was all about? According to TV Guide, a lot of the action will stem from the abduction of Jack, Kate, and Sawyer. The aftermath will dominate the season premier which has been reported to be Kate-centric.

3. The Love Triangle: Carlton Cuse (executive producer) says that the triangle will straighten out...sort of... early in season three when Kate makes a decision. Will it be Jack? Sawyer? or someone else?

4. The Others: Will we finally learn who they are, what they want, and why they only took Jack, Kate, and Sawyer? I'm sure we will be seeing and learning more about them seeing as Henry Gale (Michael Emerson) is now a series regular.

5. Desmond/The Hatch: TV Guide reports that Desmond does survive and will be back, but the Hatch is no more. Actually, I think I read about the hatch a few weeks ago and forgot to post it. My brain is already scrambled eggs and season three hasn't even started yet...great!

6. New Characters: Elizabeth Mitchell, Rodrigo Santoro, and Kiele Sanchez. Producers aren't saying what roles these new Losties will play, but they did let it slip recently that one of them will play an "Otherly" role in the season three premier. I did some further research into these new characters and found a site that claims that Elizabeth Mitchell will have a more permanent role while Santoro and Sanchez will play recurring characters. Here's an early theory: Elizabeth Mitchell plays an Other, but we discover that she and Jack know each other from the past. Hmmmmm? Discuss that amongst yourselves.

7. One last...(*doorbell ringing*)...oh...could it be...I'll be right back...

...as Napoleon Dynamite would say, "My lips hurt real bad..." No wait, I mean, "YES!" My Season 2 DVD just arrived. Big ups to the USPS and Amazon. Now where was I...oh yeah.

7. One Last Thing: Lindelof says to expect a "major bomb" to be dropped in the middle of year 3. According to another report, this "bomb" is supposed to re-scramble our brains even more. Something tells me that they will drop this bomb during the 6th episode right before the show goes on a 3 month hiatus. That way, we keep talking about Lost as we try to fit the pieces of the puzzle we just smashed back together.

I'm off to watch the bonus features on the Season 2 DVD. I may log on later if I find anything interesting...which I'm sure I will.

My Buddy Boone

I just did a phone interview with Ian Somerhalder (the deceased Boone). Even though I know he was only wanting to pimp his new movie "Pulse" (In theaters everywhere Friday August 11), I couldn't let him get away without answering a few LOST questions. I asked him point blank, "Are you DONE with the show...or are JJ, Cuse, and Lindelof planning a resurrection of the dead for when the show finally comes to a close?" Ian says [and I quote], "Ya know, I think with this show, I say this honestly, ONE NEVER KNOWS." He gave the same response when asked if he would show up in any back stories in season three. After some further in depth questioning, I found out that he is still has a very close relationship with Josh Holloway and Matthew Fox. So much so that he is planning on crashing on one of their couches and watching Season Two on DVD to catch up with everything.

Ian has been out of the country for a while filming "Pulse" in Romania, and he just got back from China where he was working on the TV mini-series, "Marco Polo." Also, for the ladies, Ian said he has long black hair now. He grew it out for the role of Marco Polo.

Maybe we will see Boone again on LOST. He gave a very open-ended response to my question... but the again, he may be contractually obligated to answer LOST questions in that manner. I guess we'll have to wait and see because "One Never Knows."

"A Tale of Two Cities"

I am hearing and reading that the first episode of the the third season will be Kate-centric. Also, keeping with the shows tradition, not all season two finale questions will be answered in the premier. Cuse did let slip that the captivity story of Jack, Kate, and Sawyer will be addressed in "A Tale of Two Cities."

New Character

While I was hoping the show would create a place for "Rachel Blake" (star of The Lost Experience Alternate Reality Game) because I think she really sexy (she's a MySpace friend and may be reading this right now so I'm obligated to say that...plus she really is), USA Today reports that Elizabeth Mitchell (ER) will be joining the cast of LOST this fall.

Of course, mums the word as far as Lindelof and Cuse are concerned, but they did say she would play the character of "Juliet." The Holywood Reporter speculates that "Juliet" could be a potential love interest for Jack. Really? Hmmmmm? What would become of the love triangle? I look forward to the intertwined story lines of "JaKatEr." Will the triangle become a square? Or does this mean that Kate and Sawyer will finally "do the deed." If you read the post about the LOST panel, Cuse does say that Kate will "get with" someone on the island soon.

Also, just so I am not wasting too much time when we are finally introduced to "Juliet," I have compared her picture to the one of Desmond and Penny. She does look similar. Maybe she is Penny's "twin?" Is the "Good Twin/Bad Twin" still a valid theory?

As I was discussing this new character with a few people in the studio today, the big question? Where does she come from? The most obvious answer would be she is an Other. You have to keep in mind too that they turned off the magnet at the end of Season 2 making the island "visible" and possibly causing another crash be it plane, boat, balloon or whatever. It will be interesting to see how they introduce "Juliet."

Finally! I found it in the middle of the ABC/Lost page written really small. LOST Season 3 will premier on ABC on Wednesday, October 4, 2006. As I said in an earlier post, there will be six or seven new episodes and then a long 13 week hiatus during the holidays. It will pick back up during February sweeps for the remaining 17 straight episodes. I also read that during the hiatus, ABC will be putting another show in that slot so we won't even get re-runs.

As promised, here's everything that went down this morning. All times are PT:

10:34 a.m.: We see footage from the Lost Diaries, which debut on Verizon cell phones in the fall. The concept follows Hurley, who finds a video camera on the island. Kate and Sawyer appear in the clip.

10:38 a.m.: We see clips from the second season DVD set. Among them: backstage footage of the Hurley-Sawyer fight, a short clip of Alvar Hanso and interviews with writers about the Sun-Jin relationship.

10:43 a.m.: Executive producers Bryan Burk, Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof take the stage. The crowd roars for Jorge Garcia and Daniel Dae Kim.

10:46 a.m.: The guys mention two strange theories fans have come up with: that the show takes place in Vincent's mind (he's the dog), and that Hurley is Claire's baby grown up.

10:50 a.m.: The line of fans with questions stretches nearly to the back of the room. One woman has already professed her love for Garcia.

10:52 a.m.: Cuse says fan response has influence the show in several ways. One of them is the way the show is structured next season, with pods of new episodes. The first six eps, he says, will be like a miniseries.

10:54 a.m.: The crowd boos when an audience member tells the panel she wasn't surprised Lost got no Emmy nods. "We were disappointed and a little bit shocked,"Lindelof says of the snub. He adds that they don't write the series just to win awards, though.

10:57 a.m.: Did Lindelof just slip? He tells a fan it may be wrong to assume the castaways have "been there as long as they think they've been there." The crowd gasps and applauds. Lindelof says no more.

11 a.m.: Cuse and Lindelof deny the existence of an "underwater hatch."

11:03 a.m.: Cuse and Lindelof confirm Bernard and Rose do not work for Dharma.

11:04 a.m.: A woman named "Rachel Blake" demands to know the truth about the Hanso Foundation, Joop the monkey and organ harvesting. "Have you no shame?" she screams. Cuse and Lindelof contend there is no foundation. She urges the crowd to check out HansoExposed.com, then storms out of the room. (She leaves through the front exit with two female escorts, implying her appearance is a setup.)

11:10 a.m.: Says Lindelof: "You will never, ever hear the word 'clone' on Lost."

11:12 a.m.: How does Jorge feel about being a heartthrob? "About the same," he says.

11:14 a.m.: We learn one upcoming DVD feature will show all of Sawyer's nicknames in one clip.

11:17 a.m.: Lindelof says the Diaries will be posted online a week after they appear on phones. Thirteen two-minute eps are planned.

11:19 a.m.: A girl wearing a homemade Dharma jumpsuit asks whether we'll see Vincent again. The answer: yep. He's still on the island.

11:22 a.m.: Because Hurley's character had not been written when he auditioned, he says he read Sawyer's lines at first.

11:26 a.m.: "Hi, my name is Stuart, and I'm a Lost-aholic," a nervous fan says. "Hi, Stuart," the crowd chants back. He, too, says he loves Garcia.

11:28 a.m.: Lindelof says the show has no plans for how many seasons it will last. "Zombies (in) season seven!" a fan shouts.

11:29 a.m.: From Cuse: The hieroglyphics loosely translate to the term "underworld."

11:30 a.m.: Cuse says Desmond will return next season.

11:32 a.m.: The "monster" on the island is not a "cloud of nanobots," Lindelof says.

11:33 a.m.: A Lost video game is being developed right now, Cuse says. He adds that Kate will "get with" someone on the island "very soon."

11:37 a.m.: Lindelof says we will learn more about Libby next season and beyond.

11:40 a.m.: We learn that J.J. Abrams co-writes the third-season premiere and may direct the seventh episode.

11:47 a.m.: Lindelof says the third season will feature more adventure, more info about those who captured Jack, Kate and Sawyer and a vastly different feeling than the first two seasons. He adds that something will happen halfway through that will effectively fry everybody's brains. He jokes that it will also feature naked Hurley and Jin. The first ep is titled "A Tale of Two Cities."

11:53 a.m.: We see a quick teaser for the new season. It doesn't reveal anything, but the crowd screams anyway.

Getting Closer

I finally found some time to start preparing for what has become my passion: blogging about LOST. I have to tell you that I'm a little confused already and season three hasn't even started. The reason I'm confused is that I'm not sure WHEN the season actually starts. Wikipedia says October 4; SpoilerFix says September 27; ABC doesn't say anything at all. What everyone does agree on is the fact that Lost will only have 6-7 episodes to begin with. Then the show takes a 12-13 week hiatus and comes back with 17 straight episodes in February of '07. That totally sucks... but I still love the show and will wait for it; and it looks like I will have plenty of time to spend with my family during the holidays..hee hee.

Back when Season 2 ended, I read that they would be releasing the DVD sometime around the start of Season 3. Then yesterday I was reading one of those flyer/mags you get in the mail from the electronic superstores... I can't remember which one. In this publication was an advertisement for Lost Season Two on DVD under "New Releases." Did I totally miss the release? Nope! I just checked Amazon and it will not released until September 5th, which is actually earlier than I anticipated, but I'll take it.

I'm looking forward to another great season. I just hope the anticipation doesn't drive me to drink...though a cold beer would be good right now.
